I am so excited that Lisa agreed to write a blog post for me! It’s not easy when other bloggers ask you to write, it’s hard enough to keep a consistent schedule on your own blog much less writing for someone else. If you don’t know Lisa, she is the creator of Amateur Nester a very inspirational and faith-based infertility blog. She writes about her infertility journey in the h0pes it will inspire and encourage you through your own journey. Lisa was successful on her third IVF cycle. Praise the Lord!
The way I met Lisa is fascinating, and I feel lead by God. I was doing research on Pinterest early in my infertility journey, and I came across Lisa’s Thirty Days of Prayer Through Infertility. I reached out to Lisa to tell her that I found her post and how it was just what I was looking for. Fast forward to last September where Lisa and I got to meet in person when we were invited to San Francisco by FertilityIQ. It was a very special time and I am so happy that I can call Lisa one of my IVF sisters.
Get ready for a very encouraging post helping you maintain your faith and hope in this challenging season of wait.
How to Maintain Hope Through Infertility
The Bible is full of promises from God to His followers. If you’re struggling to maintain hope and to find solid ground to stand on during infertility, I encourage you to meditate on three of my favorite promises in Scripture.
God Will Turn Our Tears Into Joy
“Those who plant in tears will harvest with shouts of joy. They weep as they go to plant their seed, but they sing as they return with the harvest.” – Psalm 126:5
“I have told you these things so that you will be filled with my joy. Yes, your joy will overflow!” -John 15:11
“He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away.” -Revelation 21:4
God promises that the tears of those who love Him are not tears in vain. When we cry to Him and trust Him with our tears, He promises us that one day He will turn our tears into joy. We cannot know what that joy will look like. Maybe joy will come in the form of a baby, and maybe it will come in the form of something else we can’t imagine now. We may not even fully feel that joy until we reach heaven, but we do know that He promises it.
God Promises Us Spiritual Strength
“For this reason, I bow my knees before the Father…that according to the riches of his glory he may grant you to be strengthened with power through his Spirit in your inner being.” -Ephesians 3:14,16
“He gives power to the weak and strength to the powerless.” -Isaiah 40:29
Infertility is not just an emotional and physical battle. It’s a spiritual fight, too. It’s so tempting to give into bitterness and to lose faith. But God promises to give us strength.
You Are Not Alone
“So be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid and do not panic before them. For the Lord your God will personally go ahead of you. He will neither fail you nor abandon you.” -Deuteronomy 31:6
“The Lord will not reject his people; he will not abandon his special possession.” -Psalm 94:14
“You are not alone” is a popular phrase in the infertility community. People say it to let others know that they’re not the only one going through infertility. It’s helpful and comforting to know that others are experiencing similar things. But we can feel even greater comfort when we understand that even if we never meet anyone else with a similar infertility story, God promises that He will never leave us alone. He is with us every step of the journey.
These three promises are just a few of the many promises God speaks to His people in the Bible. If you’d like to read a few more, check out this article by Desiring God.
