I have been thinking since my last two week wait in January, what can I do that will be fun and keep my mind off of “AM I PREGNANT?” every minute? I found this book Keep Calm and Bake Cake the other day while picking up some of the books on my IVF Style Book Club reading list and thought it would be perfect.
I loved the movie Julie and Julia a story about Julia Child’s start in the cooking profession intertwined with blogger Julie Powell’s 2002 challenge to cook all the recipes in Child’s first book. It doesn’t hurt that my favorite city Paris is one of the main characters. I have always been fascinated with baking and how it makes you feel. I could stare at fluffy icing for hours and wish I could put the decadent glossy mixture all over my face as a mask. I remember when my Grandmother was feeling the blues, you could always find her in the kitchen baking. I learned a lot from her and all her delicious signature recipes for cakes, pies and cookies.

Baking makes you feel good, gets your mind off of whatever it is that is taking up space in your head. Trying new recipes, not knowing how they are going to turn out is exciting to me, not to mention delicious. That is why I decided on my upcoming two week wait this month to get in the kitchen and add a little sweetness to my wait time.
The table of contents is right up my IVF alley. Featuring: Composed Chocolate, Laid-Back Loaves, Peaceful Puddings and Desserts, Serene Sponge Cakes, Tranquil Tarts and Dreamy Delights. Now how could you be stressed when you are making Peaceful, Serene and Tranquil desserts?
The first recipe I decided to make is the Almond and Amaretti Cheesecake followed by a Hazelnut and Chocolate Meringue Cake. My Cuban/Italian husband will be delighted with my first choice.
I am interested to know what do you do to keep yourself occupied during your two week wait? Do you plan a trip? Bake? Organize your closet? I would love to hear how you handle this strange time when going through IVF. Leave a comment below and share with all our other TTC Sisters (Trying-To-Conceive) what you do to pass the time.
